George Mason University evaluates events and applies security tools based on the risk the event poses to the campus community or event participants.
Want to know what security measures your event needs? Start by reserving space in 25Live (the university’s official scheduling system). For assistance with scheduling or questions about reserving space, please go to the 25live information portal or email the 25Live Administrator.
If you are hosting a registered student organization event, work with your event scheduler to complete the assigned checklist process. The checklist helps assess the risk associated with your event and determines necessary security measures.
If you are hosting an event on behalf of your department, or you are an external client, complete the departmental/external client event questionnaire. Once completed, you will be informed of the required security measures. The weapons detection systems and vehicle protection barriers are provided to events at no cost; however, guards to run the weapons detection systems incur an hourly cost.
If police or unarmed security are needed for your event, click here to request their presence. Please note that security and police incur an hourly cost, the total cost being the responsibility of the event client.
