Update: Winter Storm Jonas

Posted: January 22, 2016 at 2:46 pm

Mason Alert:

As a reminder the university is closed in preparation for the Winter Storm Jonas through Sunday January 24th, 2016. We encourage extreme caution while traveling to your final destination, as conditions are deteriorating quickly and are not expected to improve until Sunday perhaps later.

The National Weather Service’s Blizzard Warning for Northern Virginia is predicting “white out” conditions during the storm, which pose a significant risk to personal safety. We urge residential students to stay within their residence and shelter in place when these conditions are present and until they improve. For your convenience and safety, Dining Services will be open until 7 PM tonight and have prepared to-go meals that are available for pick up in the Blackstone room within Southside starting at 4 PM. This is to ensure students have enough food on hand in their residence hall during the worst of the storm. It is critical that you go to Southside between 4-7 PM.

For operating hours of university services please see the links and information below.

Mason Recreation will remain open on Friday and will attempt to open mid-day on Saturday, however storm conditions could pose difficulty in doing so.
