Mason Alert: University Closed Tuesday January 26th

On Tuesday, January 26th, classes are cancelled and administrative offices are closed across all campuses of George Mason University due to inclement weather. The university is also closed today, Monday, January 25th.

Fairfax Campus services are being expanded for residential students.  Please see below for additional information. Employees reporting to work on Tuesday to support university operations should park in university parking decks.

The university will provide updates, if necessary, on Mason’s operating status via Mason Alert. Please visit, call 703-993-1000, and read Mason Alerts for the latest information. A decision regarding the university’s operating schedule on Wednesday, January 27th, will be announced as soon as possible and no later than 5:30 a.m. Wednesday morning.

All university events have been postponed or cancelled. Please check with the event coordinator, event website, or University Events Management at for more information.

Johnson Center:  The Johnson Center will open Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.  The Bookstore, Convenience Store, Cinema, and Gateway Library will be open with limited hours.

Mason Recreation: Mason Recreation and Intercollegiate Athletics will operate the Recreation and Athletic Complex (RAC), Aquatic and Fitness Center (AFC), Field House, and Skyline on modified hours on Tuesday, January 26th.  Please visit for more information.

Dining Services: Southside, One Stop, Global Center, and Starbucks are open, please visit for more information and operating hours.

Mason Shuttles: The Gunston Go-Bus will begin operating at 10:20 p.m. and run until 11:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 26th ( All other shuttle service is suspended today Monday, January 25th, through Tuesday, January 26th. Check for information on the City of Fairfax Cue Bus routes and operating hours.

Eagle Bank Arena (, Center for the Arts (, and Hylton Performing Arts Center ( Events hosted at these facilities may be postponed or cancelled. Please visit the appropriate website for more information.

Science and Technology Campus Freedom Aquatic and Fitness Center:  Please visit to confirm operating hours.
