Mason Alert: Mason Closed Friday January 22nd through Sunday January 24th

Mason Alert: Due to inclement weather, classes are cancelled and administrative offices are closed Friday, January 22nd, through Sunday, January 24th.  A decision regarding the university’s operating schedule on Monday, January 25th, will be announced no later than 5:30 a.m. Monday morning.

The university will provide updates, if necessary, on Mason’s operating status via Mason Alert. Please visit, call 703-993-1000, and read Mason Alerts for the latest information.

University Events: On Friday, university events may be postponed or cancelled. Please check with the event coordinator, event website, or University Events Management at for more information. Allow additional travel time to and from campus and plan activities accordingly.  All university events scheduled for Saturday January 23rd and Sunday January 24th are cancelled.

Johnson Center:  The Johnson Center and all retail services will remain open until 12:00 p.m. Friday.  The Johnson Center will close at 12:00 p.m. on Friday and will remain closed until the university reopens.

Mason Recreation will remain open on Friday and attempt to remain open with modified hours throughout the weekend.  Please check for the operating hours of the Recreation and Athletic Complex (RAC), Skyline, and Aquatic and Fitness Center.

Dining Services will be available Friday and throughout the weekend with some limitations; please visit for dining services hours of operation.

Employees: for information related to faculty and staff accounting for your time during delayed openings or early closings, please refer to the Inclement Weather Guide at:

Mason Shuttles: West Campus service will operate from 7:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Friday.  No other shuttle services/routes will be provided Friday through Sunday.  Check for information on the City of Fairfax Cue Bus routes and operating hours.

Parking and Transportation: Resident students must park in Rappahannock, Mason Pond, and Shenandoah Parking deck for the duration of the storm. Parking deck fees and pass requirements are temporarily suspended. An announcement will be sent to notify employees and students when they should return their vehicles to the appropriate parking areas.

Patriot Center and Center for the Arts: events hosted at these facilities may be postponed or cancelled. Please call the Patriot Center Box Office at 703-993-3000 or the Center for the Arts Box Office at 703-993-8888 for scheduling information.

Prince William Campus Freedom Aquatic and Fitness Center: please visit to confirm operating hours.

Public Transportation: Visit the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority website public transportation options and operating status.
