Dear Mason Community,

University Police was notified today of an incident involving a student at the Potomac Heights Residence Hall at approximately 4:41 p.m.  The student may have ingested a hallucinogenic substance and was transported to the hospital.  Sadly, the student did not survive.  No foul play is suspected, but police have been informed that other students may have this substance in their possession and therefore may be at risk.

If anyone has taken a hallucinogenic substance or is in possession of a hallucinogenic substance, please contact law enforcement immediately by dialing 9-1-1 or contact University Police at 703-993-2810. The university maintains a medical amnesty program – if you have taken a hallucinogenic substance and you fear for your safety, please call Mason Police.

Counseling services have been made available to those closely impacted by this event. Resources are also available for anyone who may wish to speak with a counselor. For more information, please contact 703-993-2380, or visit caps.gmu.edu.  To reach an after hours counselor, students should call Mason Police at 993-2810.
